BULLHEAD CITY, AZ (AZFamily) — An innocent driver is dead after a crash during a police pursuit early Monday morning in northwestern Arizona.

Around 4 a.m., a Bullhead City police patrol supervisor spotted a vehicle speeding somewhere on Hancock Road and started a pursuit, according to Bullhead City police.
About two minutes in, police say the driver intentionally cut into oncoming traffic, causing the supervisor to call off the chase for safety reasons.
The vehicle reportedly kept going south on Highway 95 toward Fort Mohave and out of sight of police.
Police say officers were debriefing on the side of the road when they learned the vehicle had just been reported stolen out of Kingman.
Moments later, the same vehicle reappeared, heading north on Highway 95 directly past the officers, sparking a second pursuit. Police say the driver again refused to stop.
After a couple of minutes, the vehicle swerved into oncoming lanes and struck another car head-on between Landon and Laughlin View drives, about two miles away from the Arizona-Nevada border.
The driver of that car, identified only as a man, was rushed to the hospital, where he later died.

Four children and one adult were riding in the stolen vehicle during the pursuit. All five were hospitalized and are expected to survive; none have been publicly identified.
Arizona’s Family has reached out to the Arizona Department of Public Safety for more information on the incident, as it has taken over the investigation.
“Every day, our officers respond to rapidly evolving, uncertain and tense situations, and their decisions are made based off of the safety of others and the job they were trained to do,” said Bullhead City Chief of Police Paul George in a video statement.
“This is a tragic situation,” George added. “Our department is hurting alongside our community. But more importantly, our thoughts and prayers are with the victim and his family during this difficult time.”
