‘Total Eclipse of the Heart’ singer Bonnie Tyler recovering in coma after emergency surgery

(Gray News) – Bonnie Tyler, the singer known for “Total Eclipse of the Heart,” has been hospitalized for emergency surgery.

“We are very sorry to announce that Bonnie has been admitted to a hospital in Faro, Portugal, where she has a home, for emergency intestinal surgery,” a statement posted on her official website Wednesday said. “The surgery went well and she is now recuperating.”

A representative for the singer said in a statement to Entertainment Weekly that she was put in a coma to aid her recovery.

Tyler has released 18 studio albums throughout her career, People reported. She also became the first British female artist to debut at No. 1 on the U.K. Albums Chart.
