Person rescued after falling off cliff in northern Arizona

VERDE VALLEY, AZ (AZFamily) — A person was hospitalized after falling off a cliff in northern Arizona on Thursday afternoon.

First responders from across the Verde Valley were called to Sycamore Canyon after reports that a person had been stranded for about six hours before a bystander heard them calling for help and alerted authorities.

According to the Jerome Fire Department, rescuers made their way down to the injured person and provided care until they were able to lift them out of the canyon using a rope system.

The person was then flown by helicopter to a hospital for further treatment.

“Our thoughts are with the patient and their family during this difficult time. We hope for a speedy recovery from this traumatic incident,” the Jerome Fire Department said in a statement.
