TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – A Border Patrol agent has been accused of filming the sexual assault of an intoxicated woman at his home in Sahuarita.

Zabdiel Echie made his first court appearance in Pima County on Wednesday, Sept. 2, and is facing one count of sexual assault and one count of kidnapping. The state requested a $1 million bond, but the judge set it at $150,000. As of Thursday, Echie was no longer in custody.
During that court appearance, which can be seen in the player above, Echie’s attorney said his client is a Border Patrol agent. The judge said if Echie is released, he cannot contact the victim or possess a firearm. Echie’s next court appearance is a preliminary hearing set for 1:30 p.m. Sept. 14.
13 News has reached out to CBP for a statement and update on Echie’s employment. 13 News has also reached out to the Sahuarita Police Department, which investigated the incident, for the name of the man allegedly also involved in the June 19 incident.
According to court documents, the victim said that Echie and another man drove to Tucson to pick her up.
During the drive to Sahuarita, Echie allegedly gave her alcohol and an “unknown white powdery substance.”
The victim said her memory became impaired, her teeth felt numb, she was dizzy, and that she experienced spotty memory and altered consciousness.
The victim said she was given more alcohol at the home and that Echie called her “baby” and began rubbing her thighs. She said she asked Echie what he was doing before passing out.
The victim said she later woke up naked in Echie’s bed with him having sex with her. She said she tried to push him off, but he was too heavy, and that he and the other man held her down.

The woman told investigators she was in and out of consciousness but heard Echie and the other man joking and laughing about rape.
The victim said she thinks the encounter was recorded because she saw a “camera, light and lens in the room.”
According to the interim complaint, a 26-second video of the encounter was found on Echie’s cell.
Investigators said the victim could be heard crying during the incident, and the co-defendant could be seen holding the woman down while Echie had sex with her.
The SPD also said it found messages between Echie and the other man discussing the incident.
