MADISON COUNTY, Ala. (WAFF/Gray News) – An 18-year-old has been charged with shooting and killing his grandfather.

According to the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to a home on John Harold Drive following a report of a shooting Thursday afternoon.
Upon arrival, deputies said they found 62-year-old Marcus Lanier suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators identified the suspect as the victim’s grandson, 18-year-old Zakarius Lanier, who was taken into custody.
Zakarius Lanier’s charges include murder.
Detectives said the shooting stemmed from a domestic dispute between the two men, while investigators are continuing to work the case.
