Driver blows past stopped school bus in front of officer, who immediately pulls vehicle over

GASTONIA, N.C. (WBTV/Gray News) – Authorities in North Carolina say a driver was stopped after blowing past a school bus in front of a Gastonia police officer.

The department shared a video this week of the vehicle seemingly traveling right past the stopped bus as captured by the officer’s dashcam.

“When a school bus stops, STOP,” police shared. “Slow down. Stay alert. Help us keep Gastonia’s kids safe.”

The department said it released the video as students are heading back to school, warning drivers to pay closer attention.

Over the last few weeks, officers noted that they have issued numerous school zone citations.

Gastonia police said they will continue an increased presence in school zones along with more school bus route patrols.
