The Sahuarita Police Department said it happened at a home in the 400 block of East Calle Escora, which is near South La Villita Road and South Rancho Sahuarita Boulevard.

The SPD said officers were called to the area early Sunday about “loud commotion and possible foot and vehicle traffic.”

Two officers arrived and said they saw a large gathering involving juveniles and young adults.

The SPD said the officer thought the loud noises were from firecrackers, but investigators later learned one of the homes was struck by a bullet.

Detectives are investigating and asking homeowners for any security video they may have of the incident.
