WITTMANN, AZ (AZFamily) — An Arizona man is in jail for animal neglect after several dogs were found Tuesday either dead or severely dehydrated in Wittmann.

Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) deputies went to the home after a concerned citizen called to report suspected neglected dogs.
When deputies arrived, they found dogs without access to water and one dead dog, MCSO said.
MCSO’s Animal Crimes Unit was called to assist in the investigation. Detectives interviewed the dogs’ owner, 39-year-old Rafael Flores, who reportedly said he had not given the dogs water since Sunday.

Four surviving dogs were seized from the home, along with the remains of the one dead dog, MCSO said.
Flores was arrested and booked into jail on felony and misdemeanor animal neglect charges.
