PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A 15-year-old girl has died after police said a driver hit her outside an apartment complex near Thunderbird High School in north Phoenix Tuesday afternoon.

It happened just before 3 p.m. near 21st Avenue on Thunderbird Road, west of the school.
Police said the girl was walking across the apartment complex driveway entrance when the driver hit her as they were entering the parking lot.

The girl was driven to the hospital, where she later died.
The driver remained on the scene and was not impaired, police said.
