PHOENIX (AZFamily) — An alleged seat swap didn’t save two people from getting arrested for DUI during a traffic stop in Phoenix last week.

Arizona Department of Public Safety troopers were on an enforcement patrol Thursday when they pulled over a vehicle for “multiple civil traffic violations.”
That’s when things got interesting: as the trooper approached, the driver and a passenger reportedly switched seats — an apparent last-ditch effort to dodge a DUI arrest.
The plan didn’t work, according to DPS. Troopers said both people showed signs of impairment and were checked out at the scene.

In the end, the original driver and the passenger-turned-driver were both arrested and booked for DUI. DPS has not publicly identified either person or said where the incident occurred.
