MESA, AZ (AZFamily) — An 18-year-old man was arrested after police said he drove his car into his ex-boyfriend’s home in Mesa early Sunday morning.

Officers responded to reports that a vehicle crashed into a home near Baseline and Lindsay roads around 1:45 a.m. Court documents say 911 callers told dispatchers that the suspect, Collin Knight, drove into the home, threw a brick and took off running.
Four victims said they were asleep when they woke up to the frightening incident. One person had minor injuries, and another was covered in engine coolant.
Court documents say Knight’s Hyundai Elantra went through the bedroom wall and stopped just above one victim, who ended up underneath the engine compartment. No one was seriously hurt, according to Mesa police.
Knight fled the scene but was taken into custody nearby, police said.
Investigators say Knight intentionally ran into the home with his vehicle and was previously in a relationship with a victim in the home. Court documents state the victim said she and Knight previously dated for six months.
In an interview with police, Knight allegedly admitted to purposely driving his Elantra into the home because “he knew the people inside.” He told police he had been smoking marijuana all day and had taken eight Xanax bars, according to court documents.

Knight reportedly said he knew “what he had done was wrong” and admitted to pressing down on the accelerator moments before the crash. He claimed he wanted to “cause destruction” to the victim’s life for “cheating and lying” that occurred during their relationship, court paperwork states.
Knight was booked on four counts of aggravated assault, four counts of endangerment, one count of criminal damage and one count of leaving the scene of an accident.
