GILBERT, AZ (AZFamily) — Gilbert police have identified the two victims killed in a stabbing over the weekend, as well as the suspect who was shot and killed by officers.

In an update Tuesday, Gilbert PD said the suspect and victims knew each other, and the stabbing was an isolated incident. Police identified the now-deceased suspect as 28-year-old Brett Eschliman and said he lived at the property.
Detectives identified the woman who was killed as 32-year-old Delaney Bristow and the man as 30-year-old Caleb Worley. Police said Worley was a friend of Eschliman and lived at the property with the surviving female victim.
Around 11 p.m. on Saturday, police were called to a home near Lindsay and Elliot roads for an “unknown trouble” call. The 911 caller reported a suspect stabbed another person who was living in a backyard home on the property. Investigators say the property had multiple buildings and homes in the backyard.
When officers arrived at the scene, they heard a woman screaming inside one of the buildings, according to police. Authorities saw a man, Eschliman, at the entrance of the home where screams were heard. The suspect ran inside, where officers found an injured man and woman.
Police chased Eschliman into a bedroom and shot him, according to police. He was pronounced dead at the scene. It’s not known whether he was holding a weapon.

There were three total victims, two women and a man, who had been stabbed at the home. Worley died at the scene, and Bristow later died at a hospital. The second woman was treated at a hospital, according to police.
The stabbing remains under investigation, but there is no threat to the community, police said. Detectives are looking into the circumstances that led to the stabbing.
