LAS VEGAS (KVVU/Gray News) — Las Vegas authorities say a Good Samaritan has died in a shooting after trying to stop a man from stealing flowers from a woman.

According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, officers were called Thursday night about gunfire being heard at an intersection near a neighborhood.
Police said arriving officers spotted a car that appeared to have struck a tree.
LVMPD Lt. Robert Price said the person inside the car, a Hispanic man in his late 30s, was suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to an area hospital but later died.
Price said witnesses described the suspected shooter as a Black man in his late 20s who was able to be arrested nearby.

According to investigators, the victim was shot after he tried to stop the man in question from stealing flowers from a woman who was selling them roadside.
Authorities did not immediately identify those involved as their investigation remains ongoing.
