Michael Sanchez, 18, is now facing a list of felony charges, including first-degree murder. Records show this is not the first time he has been accused of violence.

Two of the victims were pregnant teenagers. One of them was his girlfriend, 16-year-old Rylee Montgomery. She and her unborn baby died.

Court records show pattern of violence

Avondale police say three weeks ago they received a report from Buckeye police about an aggravated assault that happened at a home in Avondale in February 2026.

Rylee had reported to officers that Sanchez pointed a gun at her. But after an investigation, police said there was not enough evidence to support a charge.

“It’s like somebody ripped my freaking heart out. She was so scared of him, and we tried to get her help,” said Amy Montgomery, Rylee’s stepmother.

Suspect was already on police radar

Sanchez was already on police radar when the triple shooting happened. He was wearing an ankle monitor for an arrest in March on charges of DUI and fleeing from police.

Paperwork from a month ago details an incident in which Sanchez was driving recklessly under the influence of alcohol and drugs in Buckeye. When police tried to pull him over, he jumped out of the car and ran.

The documents also mention a “girlfriend” coming to the scene. Family confirms it was Rylee. The records say Rylee came to pick Sanchez up that night. She also told officers Sanchez was under the influence of alcohol and drugs because she had broken up with him.

Thursday night shooting

The most recent case is the triple shooting, which happened at a home in Buckeye Thursday night. Sanchez is accused of shooting Rylee, another pregnant teenager and a 22-year-old woman.

Rylee and her unborn child both died. The other pregnant teenager gave birth prematurely in the hospital.

Sanchez was arrested at a home in Avondale Friday morning.

Sanchez faced a judge Friday and is due back in court next week. He was out on felony probation with an ankle monitor because of the March incident, so the judge had to set a new bond hearing.

There is currently an investigation into whether paperwork from the February incident, in which Rylee accused Sanchez of pointing a gun at her, was delayed in being reported.
