SCOTTSDALE, AZ (AZFamily) — One person died and at least four others were seriously injured in a crash Tuesday afternoon in Scottsdale.

Police responded to the reported six-vehicle crash around 4:45 p.m. at Scottsdale Road and Shea Boulevard.
Scottsdale officials said several cars were stopped at a light when a speeding driver hit the back of the line, causing a chain-reaction crash.
Two people were taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, one of whom died. Two others have serious injuries, Scottsdale Police said. One additional person was hospitalized in an unknown condition.
Drivers should avoid the area as crews work to clear the crash and detectives investigate.

Scottsdale Road is closed southbound at Mescal and northbound at Gold Dust Avenue. Shea Boulevard is closed westbound at 72nd Place and eastbound at 71st Place.
The roads are expected to be closed for several hours. Arizona’s Family is working to learn more.
