El Mirage police were called to investigate a domestic violence call at a home near El Mirage and Cactus roads shortly before 7 p.m. on the Fourth of July. The 911 caller described the suspect, 35-year-old Peter Patin Jr., as “the aggressor,” according to police.

Investigators say due to Patin’s “actions and behavior” near the two victims, officers used their Tasers to get him out of the house. Once the Tasers were deployed, officers handcuffed Patin and took him outside.

El Mirage firefighters were called to check on Patin as part of protocol. Police say Patin’s erratic behavior continued, and he began kicking at officers before losing consciousness.

Firefighters and hospital staff attempted to save Patin, but he was pronounced dead before 8 p.m.
