Troy Wright, 45, was arrested Thursday. The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Wright was found dead at Lower Buckeye Jail this weekend.
Officers said they found 33-year-old Aaron Goodyke dead in a wheelchair near 24th Street and Fawn Drive on June 25 about 8:30 p.m., just south of Baseline Road.
Police said his hands and chest had been tied to the wheelchair with plastic bags.
Two witnesses told investigators they saw Goodyke earlier that evening while they were walking on the other side of the canal. Temperatures were about 105 degrees at the time.
The witnesses said Goodyke appeared to be tied up and was mumbling. They later told their daughter, who went to check the area and found him dead.
Officers checked Goodyke’s last known address and spoke with a woman who said she witnessed him being restrained and that one of the suspects was her son, Hector Corrales, 41, according to newly released court documents.
Surveillance video from the home showed Wright wheeling Goodyke out of the home and, with Corrales, holding Goodyke down while Goodyke struggled to break free, according to court documents.

Wright was then seen on video pushing Goodyke north toward the canal, according to court documents.
Another surveillance camera near the canal caught a man in dark clothing pushing a man in a wheelchair along the canal about 7 p.m. The same man was then seen running in the opposite direction one minute later, according to court documents.
Police believe the shoe prints near Goodyke’s body match the shoes Wright was wearing when he was seen on video restraining Goodyke.
Corrales is facing charges of kidnapping and first-degree murder. Wright was facing the same charges before he died in jail. His cause of death is under investigation, according to MCSO.
