Page Police said officers were called to a home near 9th Avenue and El Camino Court around 11:30 p.m. for reports of two people shot inside the home.

When police arrived, they found a man and woman, both dead from apparent gunshot wounds. No suspect was at the scene, Page Police said.

Page police officers and Coconino County sheriff’s deputies obtained a search warrant for the home. Evidence from the scene pointed to a person of interest, police said.

Investigators were able to find the person of interest and interview him, Page Police said, but he was not initially charged with any crimes.

As more search warrants were served and the investigation unfolded, more evidence pointed toward the person of interest as a suspect. He was arrested on Monday and booked on two counts of first-degree murder. Arizona’s Family is working to learn more information about the suspect.

Page Police thanked the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office for assisting with the ongoing investigation.

Police said there is not believed to be any further threat to the community due to the suspect now in custody and the alleged weapon used in the crime now seized.

The investigation is still active, and more charges could be announced, police said.
