PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A woman is dead after a pickup truck driver hit her while she was riding a bicycle in central Phoenix on Thursday afternoon.

A spokesperson with Phoenix police said officers were called about 4 p.m. to the intersection of 35th Avenue and Bethany Home Road. Witnesses reported that the driver struck the bicyclist and stayed at the scene.
Police said the bicyclist died at the scene. She was later identified as 60-year-old Jennifer Lam.
Detectives believe that Lam was riding her bike on the sidewalk along Bethany Home when the driver hit her as he was leaving a business. The driver showed no signs of impairment, according to authorities.
The investigation remains ongoing.
