PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A health center counselor was arrested this week following allegations of sexual abuse against a teenage client in Phoenix two years ago.

Phoenix police arrested Goodyear resident Robert James Macklin III, 27, on July 1 on four counts of sexual contact with a minor, one count of sexual abuse and one count of enticement of a child using an electronic device.
Court documents say that the victim contacted Phoenix police on March 29, telling officers she was 16 when Macklin committed the alleged crimes in 2024.
She told investigators she was a patient at a Terros Health location in Phoenix and that Macklin displayed what she described as “grooming behaviors” during counseling sessions, including holding her hand and touching her feet under the table, police documents say.
The victim alleged that she and Macklin talked on Instagram and exposed themselves to each other during FaceTime calls. She also recalled another time in his office when she said he kissed her, had her touch him inappropriately, and that he asked her to have sex.
She said the last time she saw Macklin was when he picked her up and drove her to Royal Palm Park in north Phoenix, where she said he performed oral sex.

During a police interview, Macklin confirmed he was the girl’s counselor and admitted to kissing her once while knowing her age before telling her they could not meet up anymore, according to investigators.
Police say Macklin asked for an attorney and was arrested. His bond was set at $50,000, and he is due back in court July 8.
