MESA, AZ (AZFamily) — One driver was killed and another was seriously injured after a head-on collision along a busy Mesa roadway late Tuesday morning.

The crash happened shortly before 12 p.m. on Broadway Road near Nina Drive, just west of Extension Road.
Video from an Arizona Family’s news drone showed a pickup truck on its side next to a small commercial box truck, both with heavy front-end damage. Mesa Fire & Medical rescue crews used a ladder truck to reach a victim in the smaller truck.
Mesa police confirm one of the drivers died in the crash, while the other driver was transported to a hospital in critical condition. There were no passengers in either truck.

Broadway Road was closed for hours during the investigation before reopening around 4 p.m.
