Another Tucson business dealing with break-in, vandalism

TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – An owner is asking for help in identifying the couple that allegedly trespassed and vandalized his business in downtown Tucson on Tuesday, June 16.

Grant Krueger with Union Hospitality Group said two people broke into the patio area of the old HiFi building and tried to damage his security camera.

Union Hospitality, which operates several local hot spots, including Union Public House, Reforma, and Proof, took over the old HiFi location and plans to open it as Block A Sports Bar and Grill.HiFi closed last year after more than a decade in downtown Tucson.

The Tucson Police Department confirmed Krueger filed a police report and asked anyone with information to call 88-CRIME. The case number is 2606170063.

According to the security video, the couple broke into the patio area of the under-construction building around 7 p.m. In the video, you can see the man pick up a piece of metal and try to smash the camera.

When he realized it wasn’t working, he put the metal down and walked away from the camera with the woman.

The man slipped out of the temporary fence put up, leaving the woman behind for a short bit. The man then reached over and helped the woman, who then slipped between the fence and the brick walk.

The Tucson area has seen a rash of break-ins and senseless acts of vandalism over the last few months.

  • On June 2, a man broke into Maico Restaurant Mexican Food, located near East 22nd Street and South Park Avenue. He smashed lights, broke cameras and placed a tire on top of the owner’s truck.,
  • On June 2, a suspect slashed several tires in a Marana neighborhood.
  • On June 2, someone drove over and damaged the basketball court at Dove Mountain Park in Marana.
  • On June 1, two suspects broke into Showtime Cards near Speedway and Craycroft in Tucson and stole around $100,000 worth of trading cards.
  • In April, a storage facility in the 9000 block of East Old Vail Road in Tucson was burglarized.
  • On May 26, the city of Tucson had to shut down Freedom Pool on East 29th Street after broken glass was found.
  • On May 18, the city of Tucson had to shut down Udall Pool on East Tanque Verde after broken glass was found.
  • On March 20, someone broke into Silver Sea Jewelry on Fourth Avenue in Tucson.
  • In late December 2025, a suspect vandalized Joe Pagac’s mural near Fourth Avenue and Stevens Avenue in Tucson.
  • On Nov. 11, 2025, a business at 245 South Plumer Avenue in Tucson was burglarized and suffered thousands of dollars in damage.
