The Collinsville Police Department said a 911 caller reported finding a newborn in a car seat abandoned in a parking lot Sunday night.
When officers arrived, the baby was found sleeping in the car seat. He was taken to a hospital for evaluation.
The baby boy is believed to be Hispanic and is estimated to be between 1 week and 1 month old. He was found wearing an orange-and-white onesie and a small hat. The car seat is described as a green-and-black Evenflo car seat.
