PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Impairment is suspected after a man died and two others were injured in a crash at a busy Phoenix intersection late Tuesday morning.
The crash was reported in the area of 27th Avenue and Indian School Road, just west of Interstate 17, around 11:45 a.m.
When police arrived, they found a man with critical injuries. Paramedics rushed him to a hospital, where he died a short time later.
Two others were also transported, but police say their injuries were not serious.
According to Phoenix police, a man was detained at the scene for possible impairment.

Video from Arizona’s Family news chopper showed at least six vehicles damaged across the intersection. Crime scene tape was also blocking part of the road.
Detectives have responded to the scene, and the intersection is expected to remain closed in all directions for several more hours. Police are asking drivers to avoid the area.
