Around 5:30 a.m., first responders were called to the area of 124th Drive and Hummingbird Terrace, near Vistancia Boulevard and Ridgeline Road. Officers arrived and found Jackson Berry, 31, who had been shot multiple times and stabbed. He was taken to a hospital, where he later died.

Witnesses told police they woke up to two sets of gunfire.

The suspect, Jet Dudran Berry, 25, drove away in a black Chevrolet Malibu, police said. Authorities said Jet Berry was Jackson Berry’s nephew.

“Then a little bit of yelling right after that, and then seven — seven gunshots right in a row,” said Rachel Rampton. “I grabbed my gun, went out back and saw the body, ran back in here, told my daughter, ‘Call 911,’ and then went back out,” said Brandon Rampton, a neighbor.

Peoria police said its Real Time Crime Center tracked Jet Berry as he drove toward Payson.

Payson police tried to stop him, but he kept driving, officials said. He eventually crashed and ran off, police said. While officers were chasing him, he shot himself and died, authorities said.

Police said a family dispute led up to the incident.
