During the viral traffic stop, the woman, identified as Katie, has an uncomfortable interaction with a Palm Beach County Sheriff’s deputy after he accused her of holding a phone in her right hand while driving.
However, Katie doesn’t have a right hand.
“You drove past me holding a phone with your right hand, manipulating that phone,” the deputy said in the video.
“Obviously not. Ha, ha, ha,” Katie responded while raising her right arm. “So, you wanna call this a day, or?”
“I don’t want to call this a day. You had a hand up, manipulating,” the deputy said.

“You just said my right hand,” Katie said.
“Well, I thought I saw your right hand,” the deputy responded.
“So, you didn’t,” Katie said.
Katie, who notes she’s an adaptive-athlete influencer, posted the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office body camera video on Instagram and TikTok. It has garnered millions of likes and generated headlines across the internet.
“I’m asking you now; did you or not have your phone in your hand?”
“I did not,” Katie said.
In the video, after Katie shows she doesn’t have a right hand, the deputy doubles down.
“Hand to God, you didn’t have a phone in your hand?” the deputy said.
“Hand to God,” Katie said while raising her right arm.
Despite the presented evidence, court records show Katie was given a $116 citation, but it was later dismissed at the request of the deputy involved.
