Suspect convicted after man killed in Tucson shooting

TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – The man arrested in connection with a deadly shooting near Prudence and 22nd on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, has been convicted.

Martin Cruz Garcia was found guilty on one count of first-degree murder on May 28, 2026.

Garcia is scheduled to face sentencing on July 27.

Back in 2024, officers responded to a gas station in the area and found Damian Bryan Quinones with a gunshot wound. Despite life-saving efforts, Quinones died at the scene.

Quinones and Garcia were inside the gas station when an argument turned physical, according to the TPD.

The TPD said when the men exited the store, another verbal confrontation took place.

That’s when police said Garcia pulled out a firearm and shot Quinones.

Garcia left the scene but was taken into custody a short time later at a nearby home.
