APACHE JUNCTION, AZ (AZFamily) — Two people are in the hospital after a man attacked them with an axe in an Apache Junction neighborhood late Thursday morning.

It happened just before 11:30 a.m. on Cedar Drive near Lost Dutchman Boulevard and Warner Drive.
Michael Beaton of the Apache Junction Police Department said the suspect was having a mental health crisis and attacked two roommates.
The two victims were taken to the hospital in serious condition.
The suspect was taken into custody without incident, Beaton said.
He said police had limited contact with the man before the attack. The suspect’s name has not been released.

Beaton didn’t say what sparked the attack.
Arizona’s Family crews at the scene saw investigators placing evidence markers along the sidewalk and swabbing drops of blood on the ground.
