GLENDALE, AZ (AZFamily) — Three students were hospitalized after the air conditioning went out on the charter bus they were traveling in, according to officials with the Peoria Unified School District.

JROTC students from Cactus High School were traveling in northern Arizona over the weekend, and when they were on their way home, the air conditioning went out, officials said. As they neared the campus, school officials said several students reported not feeling well.
First responders met the bus at the school to evaluate the students, and three were taken to the hospital, school officials said. They are all expected to make a full recovery, according to school officials.
“We understand the concern this situation may have caused families and we want them to know that student safety remains our highest priority,” Danielle Airey of the Peoria Unified School District said.

District officials said they are taking the incident “very seriously” and will conduct a full investigation into the circumstances. The district also said it will review emergency protocols related to student travel.
