LAKE HAVASU CITY, AZ (AZFamily) — Two people are dead after a boat flipped onto the Lake Havasu shoreline Saturday afternoon.

Just after 7 p.m., first responders were called to the crash just north of Cattail Cove State Park on the Arizona side of Lake Havasu.
When deputies arrived, they found a 2019 36-foot Douglas Marine catamaran overturned on land, according to the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities found two people unresponsive near the boat. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators believe the boat was traveling at a high rate of speed when it struck a large peninsula and became airborne, continuing through the air before landing in a campsite north of the initial impact point.
