DOUGLASVILLE, Ga. (TMX) – A driver in the metro Atlanta area was recently clocked traveling at an eye-watering 172 mph, authorities said.<\/p>\n

\u201c172 MPH. That\u2019s not a typo,\u201d the Douglas County Sheriff\u2019s Office wrote on Facebook alongside an image of the law enforcement radar that recorded the motorist\u2019s speed.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt that speed, a driver covers the length of a football field in well under a second \u2014 and has almost no chance of reacting to anything ahead of them,\u201d the sheriff\u2019s office warned.<\/p>\n

The sheriff\u2019s office warned motorists to slow down, buckle up and drive sober or hand over the keys.<\/p>\n
