SCOTTSDALE, AZ (AZFamily)<\/b> \u2014 A man is hospitalized after reports of shots fired led to an officer-involved shooting near Old Town Scottsdale Wednesday morning.<\/p>\n

Around 2 a.m., Scottsdale police officers were called to reports of shots fired at a Circle K store near Miller and Camelback roads. There, police found evidence that multiple rounds had been fired, many of which hit the building.<\/p>\n

About 30 minutes into the investigation, police say another shots fired call was reported at the Maya Condominium complex east of the Circle K. Area residents called 911 to report people running from the area where the gunshots were heard. One caller reported that several people had jumped a fence and were running through her yard.<\/p>\n

As police arrived in the area, detectives spotted a man running away. As they tried to make contact with the man, police say the suspect reached toward his waistband, which led to the officer-involved shooting.<\/p>\n

The wounded suspect then jumped a fence into a backyard, where police followed and rendered medical aid until paramedics arrived. He was rushed to a hospital in critical condition.<\/p>\n

Investigators say a gun was recovered at the site of the shooting.<\/p>\n

Scottsdale PD Sgt. Allison Sempsis said Wednesday that detectives were at three scenes connected to the incident and interviewing witnesses. She added that multiple people have been arrested, but that no one else was hurt.<\/p>\n

Police say Fredrion Thomas was arrested on multiple weapons charges in connection with the original shots-fired call at the Circle K. The suspect shot by police, who has not been publicly identified, remains in the hospital. <\/p>\n

On Thursday police served multiple search warrants as part of the investigation. New video shows one of those warrants being served near Interstate 17 and Carefree Highway. Scottsdale police have not confirmed whether any additional arrests were made as a result of the warrants, but our crew saw at least one person in handcuffs being detained for questioning.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe know this is a scary and stressful time for the community,\u201d Sgt. Sempsis said.<\/p>\n

Neighbors believe the condo at the center of the shots-fired call was a short-term rental. Maricopa County Assessor\u2019s Office confirms the address is managed by Vascasa Arizona LLC.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are not surprised because after living here for a while, it\u2019s getting worse and worse and worse, and nothing is getting done about it. They seem to not care about it at the management level, and not at the HOA level,\u201d said a condo complex resident who asked to remain anonymous.<\/p>\n

Those staying at the condos are concerned about who is staying at the short-term rental. \u201cI don\u2019t know if there is something Airbnb can do or the host can do to screen the people they rent to. But it\u2019s hard to control who is coming into an Airbnb when they rent,\u201d said Myisha Harvey, who is visiting and staying at the condos.<\/p>\n

Miller and Camelback roads were closed for hours but have since reopened.<\/p>\n

The Scottsdale Police Department is investigating the shots-fired call and related incidents, while the Mesa Police Department will investigate the officer-involved shooting, per protocol.<\/p>\n

This is the 18th officer-involved shooting in Maricopa County and the 37th in the state so far this year. <\/p>\n
