(Gray News\/AP) \u2013 Televangelist Joni Lamb died Thursday, the Daystar Television Network said. <\/p>\n

She was 65.<\/p>\n

Lamb co-founded and led Daystar, one of the largest Christian television networks. <\/p>\n

She spent nearly four decades on the air and behind the scenes, building a ministry that brought the gospel into millions of homes.<\/p>\n

Lamb had been dealing with serious health matters she kept private before a recent back injury, the network said. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe back injury compounded those challenges and led to a more serious medical situation than anyone had anticipated,\u201d the network said. <\/p>\n

Despite life-saving efforts and prayers, Lamb\u2019s condition worsened in the last few days. <\/p>\n

\u201cJoni\u2019s love for the Lord and for the people we serve shaped this ministry from the beginning,\u201d the Daystar Board of Directors said. \u201cWe grieve her loss, and we are grateful for the legacy of faith she leaves behind.\u201d<\/p>\n

Based in Bedford, Texas, the Daystar Television Network grew to broadcast in more than 200 countries and has aired shows from many well-known evangelists, including\u00a0Joel Osteen\u00a0and\u00a0T.D. Jakes.<\/p>\n

The network said it reaches 2.3 billion homes worldwide.<\/p>\n

Its ministry was rooted in Pentecostalism, the Christian tradition known for its spirit-filled worship, and its belief in modern-day miracles and everyday battles with evil influences.<\/p>\n

In addition to being the network\u2019s president and working behind the scenes, Joni Lamb could be seen on the air hosting \u201cJoni Table Talk\u201d and discussing daily issues.<\/p>\n

She stood beside her late husband in 2010 when he admitted on television to an affair with a woman years before. Marcus Lamb also alleged that three people tried to extort money from him to stay quiet.<\/p>\n

Joni Lamb said at the time that when she learned of his infidelity she was devastated and prayed to the Holy Spirit, who told her, \u201cHe\u2019s worth fighting for.\u201d<\/p>\n

The couple said they had healed their marriage and had hoped to keep the matter private.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll you can do is tell the truth and take your pain and use it to try to help someone else,\u201d Joni Lamb said.<\/p>\n

Following her first husband\u2019s death at age 64, she married Doug Weiss two years later. Together they hosted the show \u201cMinistry Now.\u201d<\/p>\n
