GLENDALE, AZ (AZFamily)<\/b> \u2014 A domestic violence call led to police shooting a man armed with a knife at a Glendale pawn shop on Wednesday morning. <\/p>\n

The shooting was reported at a pawn shop near 67th Avenue and Bell Road shortly around 10 a.m.<\/p>\n

Glendale LT. Wade Kamman said officers received reports about a domestic violence incident at the business. Kamman said that a man and woman went inside the shop, and the woman attempted to purchase a firearm. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s still being investigated, but there was a possibility that he was not eligible to buy a firearm and she was,\u201d Kamman explained. <\/p>\n

However, the manager of the shop noticed the woman had a large cut on her hand. Kamman says the woman mouthed \u201ccall 911\u2033 to the manager, leading him to call the police. <\/p>\n

Once officers arrived, they saw the man appeared to be \u201caggravated and upset.\u201d Police told the two to separate, but that\u2019s when the man reportedly wrapped his arm around the woman\u2019s neck and pulled out a knife.<\/p>\n

Kamman says one officer attempted to use less-lethal means to apprehend the suspect, but was ineffective. That\u2019s when another officer fired at the suspect, striking him. <\/p>\n

Exclusive video obtained from Scott Repman shows the officer\u2019s response. His auto shop, Scott Repman\u2019s Truck and Auto Repair, is in the same parking lot as the pawn shop.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe police showed up, no lights, no sirens. They were very quiet,\u201d Repman said. \u201cIt\u2019s just a matter of seconds of the second officer coming in, you hear the gun blast.\u201d<\/p>\n

The suspect was taken to the hospital and is being treated with non-life-threatening injuries. No officers were hurt. <\/p>\n

The woman was also hospitalized due to the cut and is cooperating with the investigation, according to police. <\/p>\n

Video from Arizona\u2019s Family shows officers taping off the pawn shop\u2019s entrance and a large area of the strip mall parking lot.<\/p>\n

Kamman says the business is expected to be shut down for several hours as the investigation continues, but stresses there is no threat to the public. <\/p>\n

The lieutenant advised the public to always take steps to report any suspicious activity. <\/p>\n

\u201cWith the safety of our community, it all hinges on the relationship that we as the police department have with our community members. When things like this happen, taking those steps to call the police department, get officers there as quickly as possible, it helps us protect the community at large and make sure that we\u2019re saving lives as best that we can,\u201d Kamman explained. <\/p>\n

This is the 38th officer-involved shooting in the state this year. <\/p>\n
