HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. (WBTV\/Gray News) – An officer in North Carolina has been arrested after allegedly showing up to work impaired.<\/p>\n

According to the Huntersville Police Department, Officer Michael Ciarleglio was displaying signs of impairment when he reported to duty on July 15.<\/p>\n

Ciarleglio was subsequently arrested and charged with driving while impaired.<\/p>\n

Huntersville Police Chief Brian Vaughan has since recommended the immediate firing of Ciarleglio. <\/p>\n

\u201cOur community deserves officers who uphold the law, and when those standards are violated, we will act decisively and appropriately,\u201d Vaughan said. \u201cWe take these matters extremely seriously, and we will not excuse or overlook conduct that falls short of the standards we expect from every member of this department.\u201d <\/p>\n

Records showed Ciarleglio was released from the Mecklenburg County jail after he posted a $5,000 bond. <\/p>\n

Ciarleglio\u2019s driver\u2019s license has also been revoked for 30 days, court records stated. <\/p>\n
