TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – Nearly 10,000 degrees will be conferred at the University of Arizona\u2019s 162nd commencement ceremony tonight.<\/p>\n

About 40,000 people are expected at Casino del Sol Stadium to watch the Class of 2026 officially become alumni.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur priority is to help them get connected to each other and to campus. We also want to support their wellbeing both physically, mentally and then get them to a place where they can build on that,\u201d said Amanda Kraus, vice president of student affairs.<\/p>\n

The university will graduate 126 student-athletes this year with a record 3.4 GPA in Arizona history, according to Desiree Reed-Francois, R. Ken Coit director of athletics.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a little bit of chaos, but it\u2019s so worth it at the end of the day,\u201d said Jackson Francois, an Arizona men\u2019s basketball senior.<\/p>\n

Nikayla Wagner, a psychology major and member of the Navajo Nation, said her whole family has been apart of her journey to get here.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy family\u2019s investment in me is paying off\u2026it\u2019s rewarding that all the sleepless nights is over,\u201d Wagner said.<\/p>\n

Gates open at 6 p.m. and the ceremony starts at 7:30 p.m. A clear bag policy is in effect. <\/p>\n
