TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – Pima County is stepping in to help residents navigate the added SNAP work requirements. <\/p>\n

Under the new federal law, work requirements for receiving SNAP benefits have changed. The age range for what is considered an Able-Adult without dependents has increased from 18-54 to 18-64. <\/p>\n

Exemptions have been limited for veterans, people experiencing homelessness and young adults formerly in foster care. <\/p>\n

The new requirements require people to generally work at least 80 hours per month. This can include employment, job training, education or other approved work activities. <\/p>\n

Pima County said it is ready to help residents affected by the federal changes. <\/p>\n

\u201cOur staff and community partners are ready to help residents understand their SNAP options, connect to qualifying activities and access the services they need to move toward self-sufficiency,\u201d Community and Workforce Development Director Dan Sullivan said. <\/p>\n

The CWD and ARIZONA@WORK Pima County One-Stop system serve as a way for residents to receive employment assistance, education, job training and more.<\/p>\n

The ARIZONA@WORK Pima County Kino Service Center provides residents with in-person employment services from the Department of Economic Security.<\/p>\n

The CWD is also working with the Arizona DES to gain approval for resource navigators to become SNAP assisters, which would allow navigators to help residents complete SNAP applications and resolve eligibility issues. <\/p>\n

By visiting the CWD website, residents can learn how they may be affected by the new requirements. <\/p>\n
