TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – The Pima Animal Care Center has fully reopened after shutting down due to a distemper outbreak on July 9. <\/p>\n

10 dogs out of around 500 tested positive for the highly contagious disease. Distemper can be deadly to puppies and adult dogs.<\/p>\n

PACC said three of the dogs were humanely euthanized. <\/p>\n

PACC reopened its largest housing section for adoptions and foster placement last week after every dog had tested negative for the disease. <\/p>\n

The Eastside PACC Adoption Center was cleared for reopening on June 30, and regular intake began on July 6. <\/p>\n

Now that the shelter is back up and running, PACC says members of the public are encouraged to come visit with the shelter pets while they wait to be adopted. <\/p>\n
