LAS VEGAS (FOX5) \u2014 Las Vegas police said the suspect accused of latching a horse onto a truck and forcing him to walk under Las Vegas heat turned himself in after seeing social media posts of the incident.<\/p>\n

FOX5 obtained the arrest report for Guadalupe Camarillo Guarneros, 62. He faces a felony charge of animal cruelty. <\/p>\n

Police said the incident happened before 4 p.m. on June 25. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department posted an alert to the public<\/b> asking for help to find the truck driver or owner of the horse, named Pinto, who was found dead in the 1300 block of Ringe Lane, near Nellis Boulevard and Washington Avenue.<\/p>\n

LVMPD\u2019s alert showed photos of a single-cab pickup truck pulling a dark-colored horse with white markings.<\/p>\n

Police said the homeowner where the horse was found dead called LVMPD, and then the call was forwarded to Clark County Animal Protection Services. According to the arrest report, neighbors protected the horse with large cones.<\/p>\n

Police responded and gathered surveillance video. Police said Pinto was seen forced to walk behind a white pick-up truck with a metal rack, tied to the bed with a lasso around its neck.<\/p>\n

Investigation revealed the horse was already buried, Republic Services told police. The truck\u2019s plate was caught on video, and police traced it to Camarillo Guarneros.<\/p>\n

Police gained a search warrant for the truck and the suspect\u2019s home. When police arrived, they spoke to his wife. She said she and Camarillo Guarneros have been separated for the past eight months, and he had not been home for the last two. Police said there was still evidence of him living there because of medication and clothes present.<\/p>\n

Police said she did not know anything he was involved in, and if she did, she would have called police herself. She said she did not know his phone number, and she did not know he owned any horses. She told police he worked in construction, the report says.<\/p>\n

She said he may be scared of the police because he is not a citizen and was on dialysis.<\/p>\n

On July 3, before 7 a.m., the suspect\u2019s son called police and said he was with his father at LVMPD headquarters. Camarillo Guarneros wanted to turn himself in<\/b>, according to the report.<\/p>\n

In an interview, Camarillo Guarneros said he walks Pinto by fixing a lasso to his neck and attaching him to his truck. He told police he does that twice a week and does not walk him by himself because of health issues. He says Pinto is usually fine with this, but on June 25, he was resistant.<\/p>\n

According to the report, the suspect told his wife and son about the incident after seeing it posted online. He told police he tried to revive Pinto, but was in shock and just left the horse there. He said he felt sorry for not doing more or calling the police.<\/p>\n

Camarillo Guarneros said Pinto had a cut on his neck that later healed when he first got him. Pinto was also experiencing diarrhea, so he was taken to someone \u201cexperienced with horses\u201d but not licensed. Pinto received fluids and showed recovery within a month, he said.<\/p>\n

According to evidence gathered with the search warrants, police say Camarillo Guarneros changed the look of his car. The report says he spray-painted his truck\u2019s rims black, removed a metal rack, and that his plate was missing. Police said these actions align with an attempt not to be found by police.<\/p>\n

Police also said the suspect\u2019s home was not suitable for Pinto. Clark County Animal Protection Services took 20 chickens, six pigs and four piglets. The report says they will be examined.<\/p>\n

Despite showing signs of remorse, police booked Camarillo Guarneros for animal cruelty because he forcefully made Pinto continue walking with his truck under the Las Vegas heat after he was resistant. <\/p>\n

Las Vegas Justice Court records show he has a status check the morning of August 3.<\/p>\n
