GRAND CANYON NATIONAL PARK, AZ (AZFamily)<\/b> \u2014 Rangers are looking for the man who damaged a Native American headpiece that was displayed inside one of the most iconic stone buildings at the Grand Canyon\u2019s South Rim last month.<\/p>\n

Witnesses said the man had climbed onto historic, handcrafted furniture near the fireplace inside the Desert View Watchtower between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. on June 17.<\/p>\n

The furniture apparently started to tip beneath him, so the man reached out to steady himself, but hit the Hopi headpiece, causing it to fall.<\/p>\n

Rangers said the headpiece broke in two places and was damaged in three other places.<\/p>\n

The man also fell, and park staff helped him with minor injuries, but he and his adult daughter left the Watchtower before he was identified and before law enforcement was notified.<\/p>\n

The man is described as white in his 60s or 70s, about 6 feet tall with a slender build, white or gray hair, clean-shaven and wearing cargo shorts.<\/p>\n

His daughter is described as white in her late 30s or 40s, about 5 feet 5 inches tall with an average build and dark hair below her shoulders.<\/p>\n

Anyone with information is asked to email the Grand Canyon National Park law enforcement at GRCA_Information@nps.gov. <\/p>\n
