PHOENIX (AZFamily)<\/b> \u2014 The Senate Ethics Committee dismissed a House Republican\u2019s complaint against Arizona Democratic Sen. Ruben Gallego that alleged he violated campaign finance laws and engaged in sexual misconduct.<\/p>\n

In a dated Friday, the Senate panel told the Arizona Democrat that it did not find evidence that he violated federal law, Senate rules, or \u201crelated standards of conduct.\u201d<\/p>\n

As part of its investigation, the panel reviewed statements from the individuals mentioned in Florida GOP Rep. Anna Paulina Luna\u2019s complaint, information Gallego provided to the committee, and FEC filings, among other records.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe dismissal by the Ethics Committee reaffirms what I have said about these accusations from the beginning: they were right-wing conspiracies peddled by far-right activists like Anna Paulina Luna, the White House, and their allies,\u201d Gallego posted on X Monday.<\/p>\n

Gallego said he awaits an apology from Luna, who had also widely publicized her accusations, and accused her of \u201cweaponizing the ethics process.\u201d<\/p>\n

His office released the committee\u2019s letter on Monday.<\/p>\n

Gallego, who\u2019s serving his first term in the Senate and is mentioned as a potential 2028 presidential candidate, has faced recent scrutiny over his past ties to ex-Democratic Rep. Eric Swalwell. Gallego considered Swalwell a close friend and chaired the California Democrat\u2019s 2020 presidential campaign. <\/p>\n

Swalwell resigned from Congress in April after sexual assault allegations. Shortly after, Gallego held an emotional press conference, denying any wrongdoing but conceding that he \u201cmessed up\u201d in trusting Swalwell. <\/p>\n
