TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – A woman has been sentenced in connection with the shooting death of a man in Tucson last year.<\/p>\n

The Tucson Police Department said 33-year-old Fernando Isaac Pablos was found shot inside an apartment complex in the 1050 block of East Milton Road on April 20, 2025. He died at the scene.<\/p>\n

33-year-old Ambar Esthela Morales was later arrested on charges of felony murder and first-degree burglary. <\/p>\n

As part of a plea deal that was accepted on March 2, Morales pleaded guilty to one count of manslaughter and one count of possession of a dangerous drug for sale.<\/p>\n

On May 4, she was sentenced to 15 years in prison with 378 days\u2019 credit for time served.<\/p>\n

The second suspect arrested in the case, Manny Romero, Jr., was set to have a plea hearing on May 13. His trial is scheduled to begin on Sept.29.<\/p>\n

According to the interim complaint, Morales claimed Pablos stole something from her and that she and her cousin went to the apartment to get it back.<\/p>\n

She said she and her cousin had agreed not to go inside the apartment, but said her cousin stormed in after she knocked. She also claimed she did not know her cousin had a gun, but said he was known to carry firearms. Morales also allegedly told investigators she heard a \u201cpop\u201d of the gun so that is why she fled the scene.<\/p>\n

A woman who lives at the apartment said Pablos was her friend and came over unannounced on Sunday. She said she heard a knock at the door and went to open it.<\/p>\n

She said a woman was there asking to talk with Pablos when an unknown man pushed his way inside and put a gun to Pablos\u2019 head.<\/p>\n

The tenant said she then told the woman and man to leave, and as she was going to open the front door, she heard two to three gunshots. She said she turned around and saw the man had shot Pablos several times.<\/p>\n

She said the woman and man then left in a white four-door sedan. She identified the woman as Morales, the older sister of Pablos\u2019 ex-girlfriend.<\/p>\n

According to the interim complaint, a neighbor told investigators the apartment was the \u201csite of suspected drug activity involving Pablos and others.\u201d<\/p>\n

She said that a suspicious vehicle was frequently seen at the complex and thought it was connected to drug activity. The neighbor said she too heard gunfire and saw a man and woman leaving in a white four-door sedan. She said it looked like the same suspicious vehicle she had seen at the complex.<\/p>\n

Video from a nearby complex allegedly showed a white four-door sedan dropping Pablos off at the home around 9:51 a.m. Sunday. The vehicle then returned at 10:28 a.m. Pablos called his mom at 10:37 a.m. to tell her he needed to be picked up but did not tell here why. The white four-door sedan was seen leaving around 10:51 a.m.<\/p>\n

Morales is the registered owner of a white 2013 Hyundai Sonata, similar to the vehicle described by the tenant and neighbor.<\/p>\n
