TONTO NATIONAL FOREST, AZ (AZFamily)<\/b> \u2014 A growing wildfire east of Roosevelt Lake has burned thousands of acres and is threatening nearby residents.<\/p>

The Sycamore Fire is burning in the Sycamore Canyon area about 15 miles north of Globe and is 37% contained. Authorities believe the fire was sparked by lightning last Monday, June 15. <\/p>

Increased fire activity on Sunday prompted authorities to place Haystack Ranch residents in SET status, meaning they should be prepared to evacuate. Residents of Griffin Ranch are also in SET status. <\/p>

Hot, dry temperatures and windy conditions are expected to continue fanning the fire, which grew to more than 11,198 acres by Thursday afternoon. <\/p>

The blaze is burning in remote areas, causing complex operations along cliffs and canyons to extinguish it, according to the U.S. Forest Service. <\/p>

A voluntary evacuation order was issued Friday for those who are able and willing to relocate.<\/p>
