They will be allowed to return home Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/tucsonmovingreport.com\/?p=2495\">Man accused of robbing, killing elderly woman in Glendale<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Coconino County Sheriff\u2019s Office said the evacuation orders will end at 8 a.m. on Tuesday for those who live in Oak Creek Canyon. Click or tap here to see the evacuation map.<\/p>\n<p>State Route 89A remains closed and visitors are still banned from the Oak Creek Canyon area since all trails and camping sites have been shut down.<\/p>\n<p>Deputies said firefighters are gaining ground on the Pocket Fire, but smoke and flames will be in the area \u201cfor the foreseeable future.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The flames have burned 257 acres, about 7 miles north of Sedona, and are 0% contained.<\/p>\n<p>Evacuation orders went out Friday, affecting hundreds of people.<\/p>\n<p>Against the backdrop of Sedona\u2019s red rocks, thick black smoke drifted across the area as firefighters worked the fire line Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>For evacuees, the situation meant difficult choices. Sori Randle and her family, including their 6-year-old son, were staying at Red Rock Junior High School, a shelter run by the American Red Cross.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI started crying thinking about leaving those behind,\u201d Randle said. \u201cNo one wants to tell you, \u2018Hey, there will be a time in your life where you have to drop everything and go.\u2019 Last night the deputy came around and told us, \u2018Hey, you have to be out by tomorrow morning.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The family\u2019s trailer in the Willard Springs area is inside the evacuation zone. Randle said her family has limited income, making decisions about what to take especially hard.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHaving to pick and choose what I picked and choose from is hard,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>The Randles are among dozens of families affected by the evacuation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy kid had it the worst,\u201d Randle said. \u201cWatching him just start bawling over wanting to save all of his little stuffies that we can replace. He was heartbroken.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Firefighters said improving conditions helped on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>Sedona Fire District Assistant Fire Chief Jayson Coil said winds eased and conditions became more favorable for crews working the fire\u2019s edge. He said a key priority was building dozers and containment lines.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA lot of people I know and trust are working on the fire\u2019s edge,\u201d Coil said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs far as I know, they are holding well,\u201d Coil said. \u201cThey\u2019ve had minimal aviation support compared to yesterday.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Firefighters are working to keep the fire from spreading into Oak Creek Canyon. And it\u2019s the rollout,\u201d Coil said.<\/p>\n<p>Back at the Red Rock Junior High shelter, Randle and her family said they were grateful for the first responders working to protect their community.<\/p>\n<p>Coil said fire acreage could increase as firefighting continues, with crews also allowing some interior burning within established lines.<\/p>\n<h3>Pocket Fire hurts local businesses <\/h3>\n<p>Shaun McClur, who works at Clear Creek Trading Company, is trying to carry on with normal life. However, with evacuations and the 89A closure, it\u2019s making it hard.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow today it\u2019s dead again,\u201d McClur said. \u201cThere\u2019s no one coming through. 50% of our traffic comes down 89a.<\/p>\n<p>They\u2019re the first store for people travelling down 89A into Sedona. He said usually they\u2019re very busy, but by 1 on Monday, they only had one sale.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf they\u2019re scared away, we\u2019re already in a slow season,\u201d McClur said. \u201cFor us to survive, we need more customers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>McClur said their community helps each other during times like this, so now they need tourists to help out locals.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe rest of Uptown is open,\u201d he said. \u201cThe rest of Sedona is open.
