CASA GRANDE, AZ (AZFamily)<\/b> \u2014 Electric-vehicle maker Lucid Motors is cutting 18% of its workforce, as detailed in a SEC filing Monday, and that means hundreds of jobs lost in Arizona.<\/p>\n

The company issued a notice to the state government that it will eliminate 705 jobs in Arizona. The federal filing said that part of the cuts involves eliminating the second production shift at its Casa Grande factory.<\/p>\n

The jobs being cut include full-time employees, contractors and hourly manufacturing workers. The 18% job reduction is expected to save the company $158 million per year.<\/p>\n

The layoffs will occur by the end of the third quarter of this year.<\/p>\n

Lucid Motors has a manufacturing plant in Casa Grande, a manufacturing and warehouse facility in Coolidge and a \u201chub\u201d in Phoenix.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s the second round of layoffs this year. In February, Lucid Motors eliminated 12% of its workforce, saving the company about $500 million per year.<\/p>\n

As Lucid Motors downsizes, Chief Operating Officer Marc Winterhoff left the company effective immediately, according to the SEC filing, and the position has been eliminated.<\/p>\n

In 2024, the company announced the elimination of 400 jobs.<\/p>\n

Before the cuts in February, the company reportedly had 9,000 employees worldwide.<\/p>\n

Monday\u2019s cuts come months after Uber committed to buy at least 35,000 Lucid vehicles for its robotaxi service and increased its total investment $500 million into Lucid Motors.<\/p>\n
