BUCKEYE, AZ (AZFamily)<\/b> \u2014 A man was killed and his cousin was arrested after a shooting at a Buckeye home late Sunday morning, police said.<\/p>\n

Around 10:45 a.m., police responded to reports of shots fired at a home near 3rd Street and Centre Avenue.<\/p>\n

When officers arrived, they found a 56-year-old Ewell Mccrae lying in a front yard after being shot. Despite life-saving measures, he died on the scene. <\/p>\n

Police said they later received calls about the suspect arriving at a nearby church before he eventually returned to the scene, where he was detained for questioning before being arrested.<\/p>\n

The suspect, identified as Roger Mccrae, 57, is the victim\u2019s cousin.<\/p>\n

Police believe there was an argument at the home before the shooting, though the investigation into what exactly led up to it is ongoing.<\/p>\n

Officers have not been able to find the weapon used in the shooting.<\/p>\n

Witnesses told police they saw Roger Mccrae shoot Ewell Mccrae with a pistol, drive off in a pickup truck and later return on foot without the pistol, leading police to believe he either stashed the weapon or got rid of it.<\/p>\n

Roger Mccrae denied any involvement in the shooting or owning a firearm.<\/p>\n

A witness at the home claimed that Roger Mccrae arrived in a white Chevrolet Silverado and engaged Ewell \u201cin a verbal and physical altercation,\u201d according to the police report. The witness told police that Roger Mccrae punched Ewell Mccrae in the face and that Ewell Mccrae threw a power tool at Roger Mccrae and missed.<\/p>\n

Roger Mccrae then grabbed a black pistol from the pickup truck and shot Ewell Mccrae once in the chest, the witness said.<\/p>\n

Another witness said she saw the two cousins argue and later heard the gunshot, according to the police report.<\/p>\n

Roger Mccrae faces a handful of charges, including one count of second-degree murder and one count of tampering with physical evidence.<\/p>\n

His bond is set for $1 million and he\u2019s due in court next Monday.<\/p>\n
