(13 News) &#8211; The suspect in a vigilante case from 2025 has been found guilty. <\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/tucsonmovingreport.com\/?p=1969\">LIST: Sandbag locations across southern Arizona<\/a><\/p>\n<p>On June 12, the jury convicted Andrew Anaya of reckless manslaughter.<\/p>\n<p>Anaya stood trial on June 8 for a November 2025 incident. <\/p>\n<p>The Pima County Attorney\u2019s Office said Anaya confronted the victim, Emery Kirk, who was trying to steal cigarettes from a local gas station.<\/p>\n<p>During the confrontation, Kirk was knocked unconscious and later died from his injuries. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday\u2019s jury verdict confirms that we will not tolerate vigilante behavior and sudden outbursts of violence,\u201d Pima County Attorney Laura Conover said.<\/p>\n<p>Anaya will face sentencing in the coming weeks. <\/p>\n<h3><i><b>PREVIOUS COVERAGE<\/b><\/i><\/h3>\n<p>The Tucson Police Department is investigating the death of a man at a convenience store.<\/p>\n<p>The TPD says officers responded to the store located at 4160 North First Avenue on Friday, Nov. 21.<\/p>\n<p>Police say 46-year-old Emery Kirk was found unresponsive and taken to Banner University Medical Center in critical condition. <\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/tucsonmovingreport.com\/?p=1967\">Tucson man acquitted in Sahuarita murder investigation<\/a><\/p>\n<p>He died the next day.<\/p>\n<p>The TPD says officers learned Kirk entered the store, went behind the counter, and started concealing packs of cigarettes from a shelf. <\/p>\n<p>Police say a bystander intervened and a physical confrontation occurred between the two. <\/p>\n<p>The 31-year-old male involved in the confrontation called 911 to report the incident.<\/p>\n<p>The investigation has been turned over to the Homicide Unit for further review. <\/p>\n<p>Evidence at the scene has been collected, and all parties involved have been identified. <\/p>\n<p>No arrests have been made at this time, and the case will be presented to the Pima County Attorney\u2019s Office for review.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/tucsonmovingreport.com\/?p=1965\">UNLV physicists test X-ray method to regenerate lithium-ion batteries<\/a><\/p>\n<p>You can submit your breaking news or weather images here.<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Police say a bystander intervened and a physical confrontation occurred between the two. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":1970,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[1],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-1971","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-interesting"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.6 -
