{"id":185,"date":"2026-05-12T22:06:13","date_gmt":"2026-05-12T22:06:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tucsonmovingreport.com\/?p=185"},"modified":"2026-05-12T22:06:13","modified_gmt":"2026-05-12T22:06:13","slug":"prosecution-details-events-leading-to-woman-shot-inside-scottsdale-police-station","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tucsonmovingreport.com\/?p=185","title":{"rendered":"Prosecution details events leading to woman shot inside Scottsdale police station"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<section>\n<p><b>SCOTTSDALE, AZ (AZFamily)<\/b> \u2014 New details are emerging about a woman who officers shot after she reportedly aimed a gun at several people inside a Scottsdale police station.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/tucsonmovingreport.com\/?p=183\">Bicyclist killed in crash at Euclid, University in Tucson<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Eva Garcia, 23, faces multiple charges related to the April 30 incident at Scottsdale Police McKellips Station near McKellips and Miller roads. <\/p>\n<p>She was discharged from the hospital on Monday and was booked on charges of attempted homicide, aggravated assault on a police officer, aggravated assault on an employee of a law enforcement agency, kidnapping and disorderly conduct. <\/p>\n<p>In a court appearance on Monday evening, prosecutors alleged Garcia\u2019s actions were premeditated because she drove to the police station and went inside with a backpack before pulling out a gun inside the lobby. <\/p>\n<p>Surveillance video reportedly shows Garcia calmly pointing the gun at a police aide working as a receptionist, then pointing it at a bystander in the lobby and forcing him to his knees. <\/p>\n<p>Prosecution said responding officers told Garcia to drop the weapon, but she ignored the orders and tried to shoot the officers by pulling the trigger. Luckily, the gun jammed, and no officers were shot, state officials said. She had been in the hospital for nearly two weeks under protective custody. <\/p>\n<p>The state claimed Garcia\u2019s actions were due to a breakup the previous night. <\/p>\n<p>A judge set Garcia\u2019s bail at a $850,000 cash-only appearance bond, and she will have electronic monitoring if released.
