TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – The University of Arizona will remove the name of late labor leader and political activist Cesar E. Chavez from a building on campus.<\/p>\n

In a letter, University President Suresh Garimella said he received a report from the university\u2019s Naming Advisory Committee.<\/p>\n

After reviewing the findings, Garimella wrote he made the decision to remove the Chavez name \u201cfrom the building, signage, maps, and related materials by the end of this month.\u201d <\/p>\n

The move follows new controversy surrounding Chavez after he was accused of having inappropriate sexual relations with young women and minors.<\/p>\n
