TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – On Feb. 1, Nancy Guthrie<\/b><\/u><\/i> was reported missing from her Catalina Foothills home.<\/p>\n

The disappearance of the 84-year-old Guthrie, mother of Today Show host Savannah Guthrie, set off a media firestorm that has been going strong for 100 days now.<\/p>\n

In the days following her disappearance, the roads surrounding her home were packed.<\/p>\n

100 days later, and it\u2019s silent, with the memorial being the only reminder of what happened, but Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said in an interview with 13 News, their work continues.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey are working hard to get this resolved, and I think every day they get closer,\u201d Nanos said.<\/p>\n

The sheriff was referring not just to his detectives working this investigation, but also to the agents at the FBI.<\/p>\n

\u201cDay one, the FBI was involved in this case,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd they continue to be involved in this case. Every single day.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nanos said they\u2019re also receiving help from Arizona DPS and a handful of labs across the country.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe continue to work with our labs,\u201d he said. \u201cWhether it\u2019s on the digital end or the biological end, DNA.\u201d<\/p>\n

When it comes to DNA, Nanos said the labs are having to separate all of the different DNA that was found inside Guthrie\u2019s house, and then work to identify who it belongs to.<\/p>\n

And that takes time.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt moves at a snail\u2019s pace, I guess for some,\u201d Nanos said. \u201cBut for my investigative team, and for me, we look at this as, no, this is doing exactly what we need it to do.\u201d<\/p>\n

Because they want to ensure they\u2019re doing it right.<\/p>\n

Not only to avoid arresting the wrong person, but to ensure they are able to properly prosecute whoever was involved.<\/p>\n

\u201cI believe, at some point in time, we will make an arrest on this case,\u201d Nanos said. \u201cAnd whoever that individual is, that individual will have a right to a fair and impartial trial.\u201d<\/p>\n

He said they\u2019ll also be able to take the DNA found, use it to figure out information about the individual, and then hopefully connect that to the countless digital pieces of evidence they\u2019ve collected and catalogued.<\/p>\n

And that\u2019s why Nanos said he absolutely does not see this case as cold.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s way too much work to be done, that is ongoing, with some of the physical evidence we have,\u201d Nanos said. \u201cAnd we\u2019re not going to give up on it just because it\u2019s been 100 days.\u201d<\/p>\n

13 News reporter Renee Romo<\/b><\/u><\/i> asked Nanos if there was information they were withholding from the public.<\/p>\n

\u201cYes, absolutely there are. But it\u2019s not done because we got a keep it secret,\u201d he said. \u201cIt\u2019s done because we got to protect our case.\u201d<\/p>\n

And while the PCSD and FBI have received tens of thousands of tips, both agencies urge you to call if you saw, heard, or remember anything.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe need you to call us,\u201d Nanos said. \u201cWe, we know somebody out there knows what happened here.\u201d<\/p>\n
